Football Manitoba: First Aider and Re-certification Program

Football Manitoba is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the Manitoba Athletic Therapists’ Association “Football First Aider Program” on May 23rd & May 24th and a second course offered on August 8th & 9th at the Sport for Life Centre – 145 Pacific Ave in the Lower Level. All sessions will operate from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM each day.

This certification course will be offered at a cost of $80.00 to the all clubs & teams. It is recommended that the participant has previous First-Aid knowledge. (Emergency First Aid, CPR, etc.) This clinic is composed of theoretical & practical sessions on the following topics:
– Role of the First Aider
– The Health Care Team
– Liability
– Medical Exams
– Fitness Training
– Protective Equipment
– Basic Anatomy
– Injury Classification
– On-Field Assessment
– Sideline Assessment & Management
– Return to play
– Life Threatening Injuries
– Non-Life Threatening Injuries
– Taping & Bracing

Football Manitoba is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the Manitoba Athletic Therapists’ Association “Football First Aider Recertification Program”.  This refresher clinic for recertification, for the “Football First Aider Program”, will be held May 30th or July 18th, at the Sport for Life Centre – 145 Pacific Ave in the Lower Level. All sessions will operate from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM each day.

This recertification course will be offered at a cost of $40.00 to the all clubs & teams.  Only members who have been certified previously we be eligible to attend this clinic.  If you are not on our list of past certified First Aiders you must repeat the course.  There will be no exceptions.  This clinic is composed of theoretical & practical sessions on the following topics:
  • Role of the First Aider
  • The Health Care Team
  • Liability
  • Medical Exams
  • Fitness Training
  • Protective Equipment
  • Basic Anatomy
  • Injury Classification
  • On-Field Assessment
  • Sideline Assessment & Management
  • Return to play

  • Non-Life Threatening Injuries
  • Taping & Bracing
At the completion of both clinics, the individual is certified for a three-year period. Although these programs are geared towards grassroots members, anyone is eligible to sign up.
Football Manitoba policy states that this educational clinic is mandatory for all clubs participating in the MMFA. The costs associated with sending individuals to this mandatory clinic are the responsibility of the participant, club, team or league (as determined by those organizations).
