We now have an Exciting Career Opportunity for an Occupational Health and Wellness Specialist . This is a 13-Month Term.



*Please Note: The actual position title is "Occupational Health & Safety Specialist". * Overview Participates on teams to draft health and safety programs to provide consistent approaches to risk reduction and compliance. Investigates incidents and provides corrective action strategies to prevent reoccurrence.



Conducts health and safety audits and prepares assessment reports to characterize compliance and risk.



Conducts and documents field surveys of the occupational environment to identify and control risks Prepares written reports documenting the sampling process findings and makes recommendations.



Assists in the development of and delivery of training and training materials to management and employees.



Competencies



*             Must have working level knowledge and be adept in developing, monitoring, and maintaining ergonomic programs.



*             Must be knowledgeable of relevant governmental regulations; functional processes, audit practices, manufacturing processes and workflows.



*             Must be able to direct emergency action when potential physical or chemical hazards occur and have sound judgment in determining potential injury.



*             Prefer general knowledge of processes used to introduce or change facilities, equipment, materials, products or processes in order to anticipate and mitigate potential hazards.



*             Should have well-developed organizational, problem-solving, analytical, communication, leadership and decision-making skills and be able to work in a team environment. Should be knowledgeable in the use of personal computers.



Education / Experience



*             Must have a Canadian High School Diploma or recognized equivalency.



*             Must have post secondary education in a related field (i.e. Degree in Ergonomics / Kinesiology, Occupational Health & Safety Diploma, Registered    Occupational Therapist).



*             Must have experience developing and maintaining ergonomic programs to prevent losses associated with ergonomic and human factor stressors.



*             Prefer 2+ years experience analyzing and evaluating manufacturing and facilities processes to identify potential ergonomic stressors and hazards.



*             Prefer experience in project management.



*             Prefer experience in developing and conducting site assessments of processes and management control systems.
